Abstract

|
Piperacillin is the new semisynthetic broad spectrum penicillin. The study reported here were an attempt to comprehensively study in vitro activity of piperacillin against 862 isolates from patients in the Seoul National University Hospital and- in viva effect of piperacillin for 21 severe surgical infection patients in the department of surgery of this hospital.
This investigation has confirmed the activity of piperacillin against, broad range of bacteria, including aerobic and anaerobic bacteria.
There were treated 21 patients with piperacillin. Clinical cure or improvement occurred in 18 patients (87.5%).
